Claw Bot

This was the final project for CS101B: Making it Happen with Artifacts. The class had 4 hours to work together to concept, design, code, and build a robotic claw that could pick up a pom pom and a wooden ball using SuperCricket boards, posterboard, servos, and motors. The project was fun to do. The time crunch made it a real challenge, and it was very rewarding to see the robot competed especially with how convolluted the drawing board was at the start. Everything was coded in Logo and activated by pressing specific switches. It worked beautifully except for one part. The "elbow" of the arm was moved with a dc motor since that would allow us to throttle speed a bit easier. The problem was the motor was not strong enough to hold up the servo that opens and closed the claw. The arm could no longer lift the objects off of the ground. It could scoop them up and hold onto them as it rolled around though. If we had used a servo for the elbow instead of a motor we would have had the strength needed to hold up the claw and lift the objects off the ground.
